Safe Room Grant Application Assistant
Congratulations if you have been chosen to apply for a FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) Safe Room grant!
The Individual Shelter (Safe Room) Program provides financial assistance to an individual homeowner to place an individual shelter (safe room) at their primary residence. Please keep this in mind when considering applying for the grant:
- The program will not provide reimbursement for work done prior to the grant being awarded.
- After being awarded the grant, the homeowner is responsible for paying the full cost of the shelter up front and filing for reimbursement.
- The program will reimburse the homeowner 75% of the cost of the shelter up to a maximum reimbursement of $4,000.00.
- The homeowner is responsible for ensuring that the installed shelter meets FEMA 320 standards (http://www.fema.gov/plan/prevent/saferoom/fema320.shtm).
- The homeowner is also responsible for ensuring that the shelter is installed by a licensed contractor and meets all applicable state and local code requirements.
This application will use Remagen Safe Rooms as the safe room manufacturer which will ensure FEMA 320 compliance and will accommodate garage and basement installations only. For new construction or retrofit safe rooms, give us a call at (727) 687-7876.
NOTE: This is NOT a commitment to purchase and you are under no obligations to purchase. It is simply a mechanism to allow you to quickly and easily complete the grant mitigation application packet.
